Research
I am interested in the following three areas for research work:
- Statistical methods for gene expression analysis (RNA-Seq, scRNA);
- Machine learning-based automated identification of biological species;
- Statistical methods for microbiome data analysis;
- Integrative analysis of complex biological data.
I am an advocate for reproducible science. Whenever possible, I make the original data source and computer codes available in a suitable repository such as Data Dryad and Figshare.
I keep an interest in the biogeographical history of planarians. Some of my concrete contributions in this direction include: (i) generation of molecular sequence data from two Dugesia species in Southeast Asia and elucidation of their phylogenetic relationship with other species in the world (Khang et. al, 2017); (ii) sample contribution for the largest global assessment of biogeographical history of freshwater planarians (Solà et al., 2022).
